This Statement sets out Winchester Speech Therapy’s policy in relation to the holding and using of information about you or your child which may be obtained from you or other sources during your child’s therapy.
Personal data is collected for the administration of our service to you and your child, for the purposes of informing therapy targets and expected progress and for the purpose of keeping our accounts and records. This information may include personal details and details relating to your child’s educational and communication needs.
Data recipients include Charlene Cable, administration staff and the therapist seeing the client, if this is not Charlene Cable. This therapist may be working for, or sub-contracted by Winchester Speech Therapy.
Winchester Speech Therapy has a legitimate obligation to collect your data and a legal obligation to retain and store it securely. This data is kept in paper form in locked filing cabinets and also in electronic form on our password protected computers in the form of typed reports or letters. All records will be kept securely until your child’s 25th birthday, or 7 years after termination of therapy – whichever is longer. After this time, all records relating to your child will be destroyed.
This data may be shared with yourself, and other healthcare or education professionals with your permission. You have a right to access and rectify any data held by Winchester Speech Therapy and for this to be corrected, erased or restricted.
You have the right to object to the processing of data and the right to receive compensation from the data controller (Charlene Cable) where damage has been suffered as a result of unlawful processing of personal data. There are sanctions and remedies for the data controller’s non-compliance.
All information will be held and processed in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulations and the Data Protection Principles given in the Data Protection Act 2018.
Charlene Cable is registered as a Data Controller with The Information Commissioner’s Office in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulations and Data Protection Act 2018.
